English Teachers Rio de Janeiro Brazil

English teachers in Rio de Janeiro are often used by Brazilians for professional growth (business) or to satisfy a passion for Travel. Cariocas (natives of Rio) with knowledge of a foreign language like English, French, Spanish, and Chinese might be inclined to travel more freely or get tourism related careers. Brazilians with some English training are either very eager to practice with foreigners or maybe a little shy in the beginning.

English teachers and tutors in Rio are preferred for advanced conversational English lessons. Anyone who's become fluent in a secondary language understands that speaking and writing the language are not the same thing at all. Perhaps some foreign language students are weak in writing but very confident and calm when speaking. Other students can write and read a given secondary language but are socially awkward and stumble over their words. Conversational English lessons in any public venue is studying with the end in mind.

From my personal observations it seems that many English teachers and private tutors in Rio de Janeiro prefer to have private conversational English lessons over a structured brick and mortar class room. The financial reward can be better for teachers and so is the flexibility of hours. Working around a day at the beach or working out in the gym is kind of the culture here. Life style is everything. This isn't a city that only focuses on working hard with no play time. Students in Rio often prefer getting out of a class room environment and working privately with a native English speaker (if they have the financial means).

On average, the typical student looking to schedule private conversational classes usually has some good experience or years studying the language. This basically means that writing and reading in English isn't new for them. One benefit in having good reading and writing skills in a foreign language is a broader vocabulary which helps in talking about topics that genuinely interest you. (You know when you can speak a foreign language well if you have a boyfriend or girlfriend from a different country and you can have “lovers arguments” in their language!).

Rio de Janeiro English teachers and private tutors can be found in the paper like Oglobo, on the internet using search engines, at the major language school chains, fliers posted at internet cafes, or even at venues frequented by Gringos (example: Irish pubs in Ipanema). Some foreigners visiting Brazil really like the country and use teaching English as a way to extend their vacation plans and especially if they meet someone “special” which happens a lot.

Some locals use foreign films and television shows to practice English. Movies with subtitles and genuine native accents on the television are an awesome learning tool. A buddy of mine learned English as a kid watching American cartoons like Scooby Doo!) Many foreigners visiting Brazil enjoy watching the Novelas (Soap Opera) and use it for daily Portuguese lessons. Watching television can be very helpful for advanced language students when learning accents of a particular region. One example of this is the Portuguese accent in Rio versus Sao Paulo. My written English on this website isn't perfect, but I'm heading out the door to go surf and train jiu-jitsu so no time to be a perfectionist.
